56 9 2-5-8-9 NY David Williams Co.and related publications 5 This pattern is a rather recent discovery. The location of the #4 pin confirms it as from the David Williams machine. Both this pattern and 2-5-7-8-9 were thought to be broken pin patterns of their original pattern 2-5. A stamp on piece was found showing a blind perf in the 7 position dated 4/6/1910. From approximately this time on the Schermack mailing machine was sometimes punching the 7 position, some times leaving blind perfs in 7,8 or 9. Assuming a loose die was calusing problems punching the bottom row. The question is what do you call them?

58 9 3-6-7-8 CHI Babson Brothers and affiliated vendors 3 This is the 3rd broken pin version of Babson's original pattern 37. A used stamp is known with Chicago CDS cancel dated 3/28/1911. Very scarce stamp. The window of opportunity to produce this pattern was very small.
59 9 4-5-7-8 NY De Laval Separator Co. 79 De Laval produced cream separators and marketed them to farmers through their distribution network. With offices in several cities, only the NY office was known with control perforations. There is an early piece, dated 11/19/1909, but I don't have enough information to confirm it was used by De Laval. The postmark suggests not. Most likely a demonstration machine later purchased by De Laval.
60 9 4-6-7-8 Unknown 1 For a time this pattern was associated with DeLaval.. Nothing to support that. Sold in a Perfins Club auction 3/1985. Sold again privately 2015.
