REGISTERED LETTER (Customer receipt)
1855
This is a early example used Jan. 2, 1856. The date actually reads "1855", but the month "Jan." is overwriting a "Dec.", and the receipt may have been dated in advance an not used at the end of the year. The official registry system which used these receipts did ot begin until July 1, 1855, so the Jan 2. 1855 date is impossible.
