This pattern was thought to be a broken pin version of the full 12 hole pattern. Based on census data that appears not to be the case. It is a pattern developed in its own right. Not known on cover, the user is unknown.An example has been found with a #344 on piece dated 1909. It was from a blue envelope and postmarked Madison Square Sta, New York, matching known Success Magazine covers. Most likely early experimental usage. |
