This pattern is the 4th broken pin version of Babson's original 37 pattern. Pattern 37 last known 2/26/1911. Pattern 378 dated 3/3/1911. Pattern 3678 cancel 3/28/1911. Final pattern 34678 dated 4/7/1911. Short window of opportunity to produce the 378 and 3678 patterns account for their scarcity.
Babson Brothers was the Midwest distributor for Edison Phonographs. They received an entire trainload of product. Twenty Seven boxcars containing over 8000 phonographs, 8000 horns, 250,000 records and tons of advertising literature were received. They actually opened a brick and mortar store, separate from their main mail order business in Chicago.
