it is a genuine usage of a coil single with Plate No. 1 where the 1 is 0.5 mm high with a serif at he top on a cover to Merced, Ca., tied by a Bakersfield, Ca. c.d.s. and wavy line machine cancel - the stamp has a 4 mm crease or tear at the top right and appears to be untagged, whereas the current Scott Catalog lists only Plate No. 2 as existing untagged. Also, the current Scott Catalog footnote under Scott No. 2281 does not mention the Plate No. 1 that is 0.5 mm high with a serif at the top |
