Gordon Gray Bleuler was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on January 9, 1917. He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1934, and the Tulsa Business College in 1936. He then worked for the Atlantic Richfield Company, later ARCO, in Dallas, Texas in their accounting department until his retirement in 1979.
Gordon began collecting stamps as a young man, beginning with a collection of U. S. commemorative stamps, and in 1932, at age 15, he was invited to become a founder of the Oklahoma Philatelic Society in Tulsa, as Charter Member No. 8. Gordon sold his original collection in 1940 to make a down payment on a new home in Dallas, Texas.
He then began new collections of U.S. Postal History with specialization in Oklahoma and the Indian Territory, Texas, Florida, Hawaii, Alaska, the Confederate States, and all of the Western States. He was one of the foremost philatelic authorities in these areas.
