Auction Participation |
Any collector (not just NTSC Club members) can bid. Registration is required. If you have not used Zoom before, ask for assistance in the days leading up to the auction. |
The Auction Makeup and Catalog |
• Only North Toronto Stamp Club members may list items for sale in the auction. |
• The seller should include a scan(s) of each item to be sold. Maximum three images per lot. For stamps and covers the seller should submit images of both front and back of the item using the upload function. The uploads should be completed two days prior to the auction. Lot numbers will be assigned automatically as the lots are entered, on a first come first served basis. The current status of the accumulating auction lots can be viewed at any time by clicking on the Auction Catalogue link. |
Bidding |
• Floor bids and e-mail bids are the two types of bids that will be accepted. Bidders on the floor raise their hand and say "bid." For individuals who will not be able to join in the "live" Zoom auction, e-mail bids are available. Anyone interested in bidding by e-mail must submit a single maximum bid for each lot. If you send your bids via e-mail, please include your member number; otherwise, we will use your name. E-mail bids are recorded in the lot description field daily. The Mail Bid Officer will execute the e-mail bids as any floor bidder would up to, if necessary, the mail bidder’s maximum bid. Mail bids must be received by noon on the day before the auction. |
• As each lot closes the “floor” winner will say his/her full name (or the Mail Bid Officer will give the winning mail bidder’s name) and the Auctioneer Assistant will record the seller, the buyer and the hammer price for each lot. |
• Bidding increments are 50 cents for items up to $5, $1 for up to $20, $2 for up to $50, $5 for up to 100, thereafter the increments are $10 |
Post-Auction Steps |
• Each buyer will get a list of the auction results, including the price realized for each lot, within 72 hours after the auction's end. It is the responsibility of the seller to contact the buyer(s) of his/her lots and arrange for payment and delivery of the lots to the buyer(s) after payment. If shipment is required, the buyer is responsible for the expense. |
