The Newspaper and Periodical Stamps Designs of 1895

The Newspaper stamps of 1895 were printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Early printings were on unwatermarked paper and later in the year double-line watermarked paper was used, giving rise to two collectible varieties (see the listing of Scott catalog numbers below). Note that the images illustrated here are proofs of the stamp designs.
