Types I and II of the $1 Perry
of the "Triangles" Series of 1894-1895

This stamp is easily identified. The circular lines around the denomination either join with the frame line of the vignette or they don't. If they don't join the stamp is Type I, if they do the stamp is Type II. Scott 261 is the Type I unwatermarked stamp, Scott 261A is the Type II unwatermarked stamp. Both types of the unwatermarked stamps were first printed in 1894.

The Type I double-line watermarked stamp is Scott 276 and the Type II double-line watermarked stamp is Scott 276A. Both types of the watermarked stamps were first printed in 1895.
